Robots Go Rogue with Girls at the Helm

Saturday, February 12,

Eleven girls came together on Saturday to learn about electric circuits and robotoics.  The workshop hosted by the UO Women in Graduate Science, the Science Factory and the Science Program to Inspire Creativity and Excellence was designed to give girls a chance to get comfortable with electronic components and build their very own "vibrobots."  Read more at the Register-Guard online.

Electronic transport on nanometer dimensions is of fundamental importance in semiconductor nano-electronics. In this talk I will discuss our recent experimental studies of ballistic charge and spin transport on nanometer length scales by using ultrafast nonlinear optical techniques. I will discuss optical injection of ballistic currents through a coherent control technique utilizing quantum interference between one-photon and two-photon absorption pathways.
