1st Annual "Why Study Science?" Panel

The University of Oregon STEMCORE and SPICE Programs will be hosting the first annual "Why Study Science?" Panel, directed towards current high schoolers interested in, or curious about, studying science in college. It will be held on January 22nd, 2014 at 6:30pm in UO's Willamette Hall, room 110.

The purpose of the panel is to provide high school students and parents with more information about what is involved in studying science and what are the benefits of science education and careers.  The organizers are placing a particular emphasis on inclusion of women in the sciences. The panel will be moderated by Oregon Center for Optics Directory Miriam Deutsch, an expert in science gender differences, and the panel will consist of various STEM faculty members as well as graduate and undergraduate students currently immersed in their majors.
